Presentation Summary:  “As our national economy has shifted to service industries, emotional labor and work put more strain now on employees than ever before. However, in the business world of numbers, money, and logic, an employee’s ability to express themselves emotionally is still extremely limited. This combination can lead to higher levels of stress, burnout, and subsequent turnover, costing employers large amounts of money over the long term. This training is designed to not only raise awareness of the issue, but provide experiences and information designed to help supervisors and employees deal more effectively with the effects of emotions at work.”

Jon Shipley is a Human Resource Consultant that has been working with AmeriBen since 2016. He received his PhD in Organizational Communication from Texas A&M, specializing in organizational culture and development. Over the years, he has enjoyed a variety of experiences in business, from sales and account management to customer service and branch management.

Jon’s expertise lies in creating interactive learning experiences – he has over 8 years teaching at the university level and received departmental awards based on that work. Currently he holds an adjunct position at Boise State University, teaching classes in organizational and interpersonal communication.
