Chapter Presidents Letter:
Dear chapter members, affiliates and visitors,
I’m honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as chapter president for this 2023-2024 chapter year!
The past few years we switched to virtual events and saw great success in continuing the chapter and member success and growth during difficult times. We appreciate everyone’s support and flexibility during these times. As we look to the next chapter year, we hope to begin bringing everyone back out to learn and network in person for some events. While we are still figuring out this transition and continuing to offer virtual options for those that cannot attend in person, we are optimistic about the future of the chapter and our ability to provide valuable opportunities and experiences to our members and our affiliates.
The ISACA Boise Chapter has been supporting our community for over 40 years. Today we have more than 140 members across the Treasure Valley and throughout Idaho. Our membership is made up of a diverse group of IT professionals from all experience levels and a broad range of expertise, representing many of the largest and most recognized companies and organizations in the area. Many of our members also carry one or more internationally recognized certifications from ISACA, distinguishing them as experts in their field. We continue to see our local membership grow and expand, and with it, our professional network.
Our board members come from a variety of experience levels, but all are talented, committed, hard-working individuals. Our board works hard to provide frequent, relevant, and engaging training opportunities, with topics selected based primarily on member input. If you have recommendations on topics, speakers, or locations to hold events please let us know. We also strive to give back to our community in meaningful ways, one of which is our scholarship program to encourage and assist upcoming IT professionals.
The board typically meets on the first Wednesday of each month, from noon to 1pm, and chapter members are always welcome to attend any board meeting. Please reach out for further details if you want to attend a board meeting or become a committee member for chapter planning and contributions. The collective volunteer efforts of the board and the support of each member are what makes this chapter successful.
Our standing CPE events are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, noon to 1pm from September to April, with our annual general meeting in May. We request feedback at the end of each event, but we also welcome constructive feedback about the events or the chapter in general at any time convenient for you. If you have comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to pass these along to me or to another board member. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event! Most of all, I look forward to serving you and serving with you in making our chapter and our community stronger.
Kind regards,
Ashley Vanpraag
President, ISACA Boise
